I have one into this wary as all get out, unknown
Territory, risk of failure, of rendering all I have
Done while getting well useless if I make one
Mistake, that is all it would take, bursting that
Very thin vessel that lets in and let’s out debris
And nourishment, burst that and my eyesight
In that eye gone for good, irreparable, kaput,
Finis as the French say, Quel domage, que
Lastima, too bad! You fucked up! You might not
Have intended to, but also old man your luck ran
Out on this one! Yet, I am happy to say my luck
Kept me company as the pain in my neck was
Definitely there, too with me as was the pain in
My lower back and sometimes on my left ribs
But I have made it, I am healing, and now, three
Weeks in just before sunset this Thursday I go
Out onto our deck to build a glorious fire in our
Fire pit and enjoy that warmth and excitement
And wonderful creature comfort that those
Crackles and pops and spits of flame so offer up!
