" The Thought That Counts " Done In Paris, France / A Bomb Goes Off In The La Guardia Airport & Kills Many Innocent People - My Shock! 1978-1979 :

When I was living in Paris, France I read that a bomb went off in the La Guardia airport in the waiting room and a lot of innocent people were killed waiting for their plane connections. Senseless, brutal, criminal and it made me as a twenty-something shocked, repulsed and horrified : and these are my artist proff images that I did at the time to register, record and deal with some of me emotions and reactions. I will write more later. In the meantime enjoy what I have here. I will add more soon. TONY

My Etchings " Dancing " From Paris, France Done In 1978-1979 @ Atelier 17 Of William Stanley Hayter From Drawings Made @ Beaux Arts School Earlier

It's so refreshing for me to see these old artist proof prints that I made from my many drawing visits to the Beaux Arts school in Paris, France with my friends from William Stanley Hayter's Atelier 17 etching work shop ( 10, Rue Didot, 14th arrondisement, off the Pernety metro ) back in 1978-1979. We snuck in and drew until they caught us and kicked us out. Usually we got some great work done of the still and the dancing nude male and female models on the floor of the large room as we sat on the bleachers and drew as quickly as we could. A real rush of adrenalin , a real charge and it was all worth it as Cristina Piceda and Maria of Buenos Aires, Argentina and Mansoor Ibrahim of Kuala Lumpur, Malasia ( and more depending on who could join us ) drew to our heart's content so many years ago. I can feel that same surge and rush and motion even now as I look at these starter-artist's proofs that I made from those drawings and then of course embellished as I went along. I will include copies later of the finished print here or in a separate blog entry later. In the meantime enjoy these and stay-tuned for more soon. Cheers, TONY

My Etchings From Paris, 1978-1979" Freedom Of Choice / Choice Of Freedom " / Color & Black-And-White Artist Proofs : Enjoy

I did a drawing and then an etching from it as I was deciding in my mind to live my life always as an active and alert artist. Actually, I had already decided long ago to do this but had not perhaps yet put it into words. Here I visualize it and make it concrete. I was in my twenties living in Paris, France at the time in the later 1970's and I was etching at the work shop / atelier of William Stanley Hayter at Atelier 17 at 10. Rue Didot in the 14th arrondisement of Paris. What a wonderful period that was in my life. I still live it each and every day. Cheers and enjoy these etchings. More later, TONY

P.S. It's Saturday evening here at 7:16PM on September 24th, 2011 here in Cleveland Park Washington D.C. N.W. as I type this and get ready to post it. I will continue work on it tomorrow at home when I am not at work. Cheers et a demain mes amis.

Anthony Alan Quinn : My Quick Jazz Portrait Sketches & Lee & Leslie's Home In Early 2011 / Of The Musicians As They Played So Sublimely!

This was such a special event for me and the first time that I took my sketch pad with me and drew quick portrait sketches of all the jazz musicians that gathered for this Sunday afternoon live-jazz event at Lee and Leslie's home. There were people like singer Jamie, guitarist Gene, piano player Robert, bass player Michael, and so many more that I will have to mention when I get a chance. For the meantime enjoy these quick portrait sketches that I did as they played their heart's out / poured their guts and bled their souls out, too : so intensely, with such passion and feeling and life and everything else including the kitchen sink. Cheers, TONY Stay-tuned for more.

More Anthony Quin Art / One Of My Uncle Mort Etchings & Many Monotype Prints Done From It In 14th Arrondisement , Done In Paris, France 1978-1979

I loved my days of etching in Paris, France back in the late 1970's in the 14th arrondisement and I look forward someday to doing more etchings here in northern Virginia as I still have lots to add to what I did back in the 70's.

When my Uncle Mort died back then I was in my twenties and his death touched me quite deeply and I wanted to deal with some of my feelings and so I tried to do that in part here with these etchings and they way I printed all these monotypes. I will explain more later but in the meantime enjoy these prints. Cheers and happy new year 2012. Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn

The prints above and below use both etchers' inks as well as some oil paint, too. I was trying it out : I was running low, too at the time of my etching/printers' inks. Being practical, using what I had ... I like the results though they may not be as permanent. Let someone else deal with that later.
