Early Anthony Quinn Watercolor Done In The Washington D.C. : Crystal City Apt. / Lorcom Lane Apt. Back in 1980 Many Moons Ago!

I loved this period of mine back in 1980 and the early 1980's upon my return to the United States from having lived off-and-on in Paris, France in the 1970's around attending Lawrenceville Prep School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey and then later at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. It was all a melting pot of creativity for me and one in which I became a bit more aware of myself and what I wanted to do with my life.

Being an artist that would always stick and I would always approach things with my artist's eyes and sensibilities. This continues with me even now in November, 2011 on Thanksgiving day. Enjoy yours.

Here is one of my early watercolors that I did. I like the energy and the rawness of it. It's graphic and unapologetic and a bit sly and I hope that you like it. I did it in my twenties and I am sure I had a twinkle in my eyes while I painted it and a boner in my pants. There was probably some good music playing, too on my Bang and Olofsen turntable with my old records like perhaps the old double White Album of the Beatles' or a Doors' album? That's okay. Hope I don't offend anyone. Cheers, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn

My Pastel Inspired By My Uncle Mort's Death Years Ago / My Family Was Living In Paris, France At The Time 1970's

Pastels from the past ... this one was of a burial scene in the countryside at night, simple, my uncle being lowered into his grave. Solemn, sincere, unadorned, not fancy, the basic heart-felt-gut-wrenching and hard mentally and emotionally and also exhausting on a physical level as well.

I was working a lot at this time with regular pastels. I do like working with them. I like the feel of them in my hands and how they mold themselves to my flesh as well as to the paper that they touch, crush, caress and cover in marvelous warmth, emotion and colors! Cheers and enjoy, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn

Martina Molino Wine-Maker & Daughter Of Mauro Molino Inspires Quick Rapid Fire Photo Shoot : Heaven In Reidel Glass & Through It Of 2007 Barolo

2007 Vigna Gancia Piemontese Dry Red Wonder ... the headline should finish ...
Being an artist this is my artistic sensibilities here at work and very much on fire. Cheers!

I think that I was drinking and swirling the last of these 5 wine here in this tour-de-force : the Barolo Vigna Gancia 2007 ( around $60 ) ... nice ...

This was such a quick inspiration for me to take such a lot of rapid shots of owner Martina Molino of the Italian Piemonte dry red wines ( Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Barolo and Barolo Vigna Gancia ) through my Reidel Austrian wine-tasting glass as she explained her family's wines of Azienda Agricola MAURO MOLINO. These are in fact just a few of the many pictures that I took. The wines were quite passionate expressions of the Piemonte region from which they were hatched. Martina , too was such a bright and refreshing breath of air for me as well. I was hooked and pleased to be so. Thanks / grazie Martina and Mark Congdon for your visit.

The pictures are all quite a blur and yet I believe with all my heart that I have captured the unadulterated essence and warmth of the moment, the wines, Martina and Mark, Ean and I here tasting these delightful wines in mid October, 2011 at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel : 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com anthony.quinn@clevelandparkwine.com also now on Facebook at : Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits , also on Twitter now at : cpwinespirits ) . We will undoubtedly buy some of these wines soon.

In the meantime enjoy this rush of color and movement, of the swirling of the red wine around my Reidel glass as Martina talks about and explains her wines to Ean and me. Cheers and stay-tuned for more. Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn

Rediscovering My Arches Paper Acrylic Work Done In 1990's @ 7006 Ellen Avenue A Couple Of Lifetimes Ago Or So It Seems!

This Monday, October 17th, 2011 ( two days ago ) I was off for the first time in a long time and I decided to take my rediscovered rolled Arches French paper acrylic paper canvas outside and roll it out on our back deck and photograph it. Wow, what a wonderful project and discover that all became to me! I had not seen it in years as my life became more complicated with my daily living of life. It's been a whirlwind of motions and activities and pursuits ( many of them ) down smaller venues, paths, roads, brush, paths, woods, sands and waters etcetera. I have worked on smaller scales now for many years and have much to show for it.

It's time to start sharing it with the world at large that refuses to stand still and keeps marching on and on and forward, this way, that way, up-down, around, under, above, to my sides, between my legs, under my arms, over my head, through my remaining head hair, through my thickening mustache ... I'm just starting to wake up to this momentum and wanting now more than ever to hitch bigger rides, to be " out there " - seen in the world scene, to be noticed more, reveal more openly, to be more talked about, discussed, evaluated, etcetera.

I have worked quietly now to the sides for years and now it's time to break loose and to be available and counted and seen. I've done a lot of work, a lot of really good work. I've done it quietly and consistently and built a life of it and a whole stock pile of it. Time to share it more and to be sure that I continue to work it all together now as one, as motion of art, as collages of art : my art , my work over the last thirty-forty years.

What fun all this will be. Jump on! Come along for the ride with me.

Here I will in this blog include some of the pictures I took of this very long paper Arches canvas of mine. Enjoy and feel free to comment. Cheers, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn

I will download the pictures here later today as time permits.
