The ROYAL Valley Vineyards Wine Co. South Africa 2009 Chenin Blanc / STE. CHAPELLE Idaho Snake River 2007 Dry Riesling 4/12/2010 Chez Moi ...

:Inside With Chenin Blanc , Outside W/ Dry Riesling : Beautiful Late Afternoon "
this headline should have finished ... enjoyment inside and outside of my house.

I was at home enjoying these two excellent everyday value wines : both with my wife and daughter and on two separate occasions. Started one evening with the ROYAL Valley Vineyards Wine Company 2009 Chenin Blanc that owner Fran Kysela of Kysela Pere Et Files Et Fille ( he has one of each after all ) sent me to enjoy along with the ROYAL Valley Vineyards Wine Company Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon dry red blend.

They are both now at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel: 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com ) where I have now managed the wine department for ten years ( both selling for $10 a bottle I believe). I liked them both and with so much talk about the Soccer World Cup happening this year in Cape Town South Africa I think I will buy more to help celebrate this fine event coming up pretty soon.

Both wines were balanced and well-focused with the freshness and the brightness of the fruit always there front and center and never obscured by other components of the wine. Medium-to-light-bodied both and very easy to enjoy with or without a meal. Good, sound wines for the money here with nice, attractive labels, too.

I liked very much the CHATEAU ST. CHAPELLE dry 2007 Idaho Snake River dry Riesling and am thrilled to have it and be able to sell it for $10 a bottle. I also have the soft 2007 Chenin Blanc and the 2007 dry Snake River Valley Idaho Gewurztraminer ( both also selling for $10 a bottle ). My favorite of the three is the soft 2007 Chenin Blanc that is off-dry and reminds me of a fine Loire Valley Chenin Blanc.

These flowers above I gave to my wife that I bought from our local street-corner black vendor this Saturday that I speak French with and we always smile and laugh and share our good cheer and joie de vivre with one another for a few fleeting seconds before continuing on ...

Being an artist this blog entry is as much about that and having fun taking some pictures with interesting views and angles that I enjoy searching for and capturing if possible when and where I can. I love using my Canon digital camera and working with my wine glass and trying to take pictures through it when I can.

Cheers and I hope you enjoy these pictures. For more about the wine or about my poems go to : chatwine.blogspot.com and chatart.blogspot.com.

Amazing opening up of this one flower above.

Amazing late afternoon with my wife and daughter outside on our deck out back with me taking a picture through our glass table and looking up at the beautiful blue skies and just-flowering trees above, too.

INAO wine glass filled with dry 2007 CHATEAU ST. CHAPELLE dry Snake River Idaho Riesling and bottle of the CHATEAU ST. CHAPELLE almost seem to be floating in thin air in this picture above ... cradled and held in place by the tree branches and all the budding baby green leaves ...

Back to the ROYAL dry Chenin Blanc from South Africa ... and below giving the CHATEAU ST. CHAPELLE dry 2007 Riesling a final quick chill before serving some more to my wife and daughter outside ...

Flowers and good wine and cooked shrimp and cocktail sauce and good weather with my wife and my daughter : wow! What else could I possibly wish for except for my son coming outside to chat with us, too? He did, lovely : a bit of paradise right here in my back yard. I feel so lucky, really ... alive and in love with life and being alive and being witness and a small part of this grand scheme of activity and possibilities and dreams that I nurture when I can and always refuse to let die as life envelops and carries me along for the most part ...

Cheers, hope you enjoyed the ride. TONY P.S. It's now Friday morning at 8:39 AM here at home in northern Virginia on May 28th, 2010 as I get ready to enjoy my breakfast out back before going off to work to sell more wines including these two as we start our Memorial Day weekend in Washington D.C. It's nice outside today : great way to start the day off as well. TONY
