Portraits Of Katy Adams & Anna Pagli : This Is A Sign! Thanks To You Both & Amy Ziff For Yesterday - For NBC4 News 9AM 11/26/2011

I just blogged about you both at my other site : chatwine.blogspot.com about my morning show yesterday, Saturday, November 26th, 2011 at 9AM when I spoke about holiday party wines for under $20 a bottle. It was a blast and it happened all because of you both and my having met and become a casual friend with Amy Ziff nack in the mid eighties at the Mayflower Wines & Spirits ; and then having recognized her when she came to the store with you Anna a year or so ago. What are the chances?!? What are the odds?!? All these links in this chain and things falling into place and people speaking up, taking a liking to one another. I love it : I absolutely love it.

I also loved this serendipitous evening with the both of you on Saturday in the evening of October 1st, 2011 which was our neighborhood Cleveland Park Day. It was one of those moments that picked me up and carried me along and which I loved, the adrenalin kicked in and I was riding high and well and wondering what would transpire next? There simply was no way of telling.

We were all having such a great time. People know to gather around our tasting table and people all did and there were many conversations going at once. Lively, bright and cheerful and happy all in one : that's the way it should be. Everyone was relaxed or becoming more so as they sipped whatever wines I had. I know that I still had some from Vince Grande that had poured earlier that afternoon with his wines from all over Italy. The great treat, of course were the MARCHESI DI BAROLO wines and especially the Barolo " normale " followed by the single-vineyard 2004 " Cannubi " that is pictured here in this series of photos.

Here Katy Adams is texting her friend at NBC4 Universal : Angie Goff recommending that the two of us touch base and that we get together and do a live segment on " Holiday Party Wines For Under $20 ". Funny, the text was sent right there and then and I was copied on it and more wine and conversation followed.

I had already met Anna Pagi as I have mentioned but it was the first time meeting Katy Adams. It was a lovely roller coaster of ideas and impressions and spoken and unspoken words going on all at once. It was fun, it was energetic : we all three had broad smiles that broadened as the moments passed and as the wine continued to flow. The weather was wet and cold and miserable outside and we were all happy and warm and enjoying ourselves inside round our tasting table. What more could anyone ask for?

Pictured above are Katy and me ( Anthony Quinn ). By this time our smiles were as bright as bright can be. Nice.

Below is pictured the bottle of 2004 Single-Vineyard " Cannubi " MARCHESI DI BAROLO that Vince Grande was nice enough to open for our special customers earlier and which we promised to buy some to sell to our better customers. We need some now Vince! You had better send me some for next month. I will email you tomorrow to remind you. Both single-vineyard bottles were fabulous by the way. We still have the empty bottles in the store to show our customers.

We chatted in-between all the other customers as I had to help everyone. At the end as closing time drew closer I got my pens and paper out and I did two quick portrait sketches of both Anna and Katy. I need to do some more : I like what I got to start with but need to do some more as I was then just starting to warm up. Let's set a time to do more sketches Anna and Katy? Come again for the next segment to this?

I learned some about the both of you and that pleased me. It was nice to chat and to become more familiar with one another. It was just a beautiful start to a beautiful relationship here in Cleveland Park, Washington D.C. 20008 across from the Uptown Movie House and two blocks down from the National Zoo.

I hope that you both can make it to the Big-Theme Champagne-Sparkling Wine Tasting at the store Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008, Tel : 202-363-4265 also now on Facebook at : Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits and on Twitter at : cpwinespirits ). The tasting is free and we will pour 30-40 types. Bring family and friends, lovers and anyone you want. Cheers, and thanks for a great evening Anna and Katy ( and Amy in spirit ). Sante, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn
