LP Art / Taking Careful Wine Notes / Paying Close Attention To Detail March 19th, 2010, Thursday Afternoon, Cleveland Park N.W.

This is a vital art that we do not want to ever lose. It's important to use our hands and to write and I am glad to see it still being used here. I asked to sample the RAVENSWOOD Vintner's Selections of both the Chardonnay and the Merlot as I had just recently tasted both the RAVENSWOOD " Vintner's Selections of the current Zinfandel and the Cabernet Sauvignon releases.

Look at that white page in the picture above : a whole white page to fill up with thoughts and ideas and stories, reminiscences and anecdotes : whatever is on your mind or whatever you have just seen or witnessed/been a part in and want to record for later.

A computer can crash as we know and then it can be very difficult if not impossible to continue because you may not be able to access whatever you had put there. That's more than annoying : it makes continuing really another form of starting over all over again : exasperating!

Time to listen and reflect : pause and soak things up - recharge one's own batteries and hands and brain and not a computer's!

Back to writing : I just gave an order for some " Night Harvest " CA. wines from R.H. PHILLIPS as well as some from Argentina's MARCUS JAMES wines.

She offered me her pen when I needed to make a note or two and my pen would not work. Thanks.

Oops! Here's the head being raised of a nasty computer : must have had to check on the stock inventory of a certain wine here!

What key words is she typing here?

The stress of it all : it's always present in today's age of sales and needing to make more and more to keep the big boys happy in their cut-off-from-reality offices, tucked neatly and nicely away somewhere safe. Get out and see what it's all really about : not just numbers and units/boxes/scores and shoving more down the throats of both the retailers and all the consumers out there!

It's bee a good moment, a good visit , a good sales call. Thanks e a presto LP! Cheers, TONY

PS: It's Friday, March 26th, 2010 at 5:58 AM as it's almost spring break for the schools and so I had to get up early to drive my family to the airport just now. It's pitch-black outside now, drizzling rain and shiny-glare on the roads - no fun to drive in. I'm home and safe now and I just want to say that LP brought the samples for Chris and I to taste of the RAVENSWOOD " Vintners " wines : a Chardonnay, a Merlot and I believe a Petite Sirah is it? I have three and we will taste them soon as it's time to get them back into the store once again!

Thanks LP for getting them to us so quickly. Keep up the good work and don't ever stop using that pen of yours to take notes as a computer is only as reliable as it's battery is charged or there is electricity to use it.

Besides, being an artist I believe wholeheartedly that there is nothing more personal and wonderful than a person's handwriting. It's too bad that we all seem to be loosing sight of that. Also LP, being an artist I must ask if you ever let your mind wander for spells at a time and doodle on these pages of yours with the notes from all the wine stores?

Cheers, TONY
